Bunnarchy

As you may have noticed, here in Seattle we're big fans of themed pub crawls.  There are actually many more pub crawls going on around town (St. Patty’s Day, Pirates and Ninjas, Cinco Day Mayo, Supeheros, etc.) than my liver could possibly handle, but I just couldn’t resist the bunny rabbit themed one this week, aka “Bunnarchy”.

I didn’t feel like buying bunny ears like everyone else and I figured what’s the point of having 28 inch long hair if you can’t make sculpture out of it?  So, after getting a few ideas from YouTube videos and with the help of a little wire from the hardware store… Ta Da!
I turns out my ears were super popular.  All day long people were smiling, pointing, high-fiving me, asking me to pose for pictures, and wanting to touch them.  I felt like a total celebrity!  Originally we had only planned to stay out for a few hours, but that quickly turned into 6 hours since the sun was shining and we were having such a great day.  That’s what Saturdays are for :)

BSOW (Boy Story of the Week): Some of you might know that when I first started working at Dendreon, I shared a large office space with five other people, including four dudes from another department.  They were all really nice guys and we always had fun joking around with each other.  Two of them were married, two of them weren’t, but I just treated them all the same and there was never even the slightest hint of flirting.  When we moved to our new office building 5 months ago we went our separate ways to separate offices.  Occasionally I would see them in the hallway and catch up a bit, but not very often.

Last Friday I ran into one of the guys, Matt, on the way out of the building and we briefly talked about our weekend plans before heading out the door.  Monday morning he instant messaged me on our office system and asked how my weekend was?  I told him what a great weekend I’d had and he complained what a lame one he’d had…  I’m a firm believer in making your own fun so I really didn’t feel too bad for him.

Fast forward to this past Friday, 2:00pm, he messaged me again to find out my weekend plans.  I told him all the fun stuff I had planned and then to be polite, I asked what he was up to?  Again, he gave a mopey, Eeyore-like answer so I asked if he wanted to come along on the bar crawl.  He seemed non-comittal and I had tons of work to wrap-up so I just gave him my cell phone number and said he could call me later if he wanted to join me and my friends.  Big mistake!!!!  I’ve known Matt for a year and we’d always had a normal, friendly, co-worker relationship so I didn’t think much of giving him my number.  He proceeded to send me 23 text messages over the next 48 hours.  Including the follow:

- “I’d like to come see your apartment, the lease is running out at my place soon”
- “I’m making buffalo burgers right now.”
- “How’s Amanda this morning?”
- “Do you like the Pacific Science Center?”
- “Do you need anything from the grocery store?”

What the hell?!?  Just randomly texting someone (who you’ve never even hung out with outside of work) and asking if they need something from the grocery store is really bizarre!  I don’t want to be mean to him since he’s a coworker, but yikes!  I just ignored him, so hopefully he’ll take the hint….

To end on a positive note, I leave for China in 7 days!!!!  Well… if I get my visa in time, that is.  I admit that I procrastinated quite a bit in sending off all the forms.  According to the info on the Chinese consulate website, it only takes 4 days to process a tourist visa application, so I thought I would be safe.  Then I realized that they only accept applications in-person and the office is in San Francisco.  Crap.  I ended up having to go through a third-party visa service company and send my passport to them.  I still haven’t received my passport back so if I don’t get it by Saturday, then I can’t board the plane on Monday.  Please cross your fingers for me!
