Then, Saturday night I went to a concert (The Maine and Augustana) with Leslie and my gay BFF. Granted, she may have been a little bit biased because I always refer to him as "my gay BFF", but still, within 30 seconds of meeting him, Leslie said she totally agreed with my suspicions. The concert was mostly full of teeny-boppers so the three of us just hung out by the bar and had a great time dancing like goofy old people.
Although I was hoping for a chill, relaxing Sunday, I got an offer from Barb and Barnaby to fly down to Portland for the day to visit with my cousin Jeff so there was no way I could turn that down. I hadn't seen Jeff in a million years and I'd never met his wife, Milla. They took us out for an amazing brunch and afterwards we stopped at a cute little ice cream cart for dessert from breakfast and I had brown ale bacon ice cream!!! Later in the day they showed us around the fancy Portland neighborhoods, including at stop at the gourmet market. Back at their house, Barnaby got to take a spin in their awesome little MG midget and we got to see the wine cellar/man cave they're building under the house and then sample some fancy Deschutes Brewery barely wine (aka super-alcoholic beer that has to be legally classified as wine). Wow, these are my kind of people!!! I think I'm going to have to plan some more visits to Portland :)
After my super busy weekend, I flew out to Atlanta Monday morning for my very first work trip. I was fairly nervous going into it, because while I was planning the trip, the Atlanta folks didn't seem very excited about us coming, but there was work that needed to get done so the trip had to happen. Fortunately, the trip turned out to be very productive and the Atlanta folks were pretty receptive to working with me. It was a crazy whirlwind trip and we actually had to fly back to Seattle Tuesday night, so I felt absolutely exhausted at work today. I think I'll be making more trips back there, but hopefully I'll be staying for more than just one day and be able to see something besides the airport and the Dendreon facility.
So that's a legitimate excuse for not updating the blog, right???
There is a place near you called Heather Lake? Guess we know where you'll be taking me if I ever muster up the funds to be able to visit!
