Interviews!

Ok, now before you get too excited they are just "interviews" with staffing companies.  Since I got to Seattle I've been applying for lots of awesome sounding jobs.  Now, of course I think I'm the perfect candidate, but it's pretty hard to tell what the companies are thinking.  When job hunting, I feel like you're just completely in the dark until all of a sudden they call and want you for an interview.  Without know how long that will take, I wanted to play it safe so I contacted some scientific temp/staffing agencies.

One guy I talked to seemed pretty normal and we just scheduled a meeting time for tomorrow morning.  The other dude (Ken) I talked to was a total jerk when I called.  He acted all inconvenienced and superior.  With a major attitude he told me to just email him my resume and then after looking at it maybe he would talk to me.  Ok, fine!  Be that way!

I send the email and less than 5 minutes later my phone is ringing.  This time Ken was just thrilled to talk to me; oh how quickly things change.  Talking a mile a minute, he said he had the most perfect job for me and could he please submit my resume and whatever I do, don't apply directly for it and whatever I do don't let the other staffing agency submit my resume for it.  Hahahaha, obviously this guy is hurting for some commission.  The job itself is totally boring and lame (running kit ELISAs and requiring 2 years experience) but I told him he could go ahead and submit my info.  I guess it would give me something to do while I look for a better job, but I'm nervous about getting roped into a contract position.  We'll see... I'm meeting Ken tomorrow afternoon.

I had to dig out some fancy clothes from the trunk of my car and find something that still fit, but now I guess I'm all set.  I think these two meetings will be good practice for better interviews that I will hopefully be getting later on.  Wish me luck everyone!

  2. That's good news to have an option like this so soon. Hopefully it's a sign that there are a lot of great jobs in Seattle for you. Good luck!
