Sunshine

Today the sky was clear and blue, the sun was shining and the air was crisp; perfect weather for putting on high heals and too-tight dress pants.  Okay, so... not really, but that's what I did anyhow.  This morning I met with Vince (aka not freaky Ken) and things went really well.  These types of meetings are basically just to make sure that candidates are human.  If these staffing companies are going to submit my resume somewhere and "vouch for me" then they want to make sure that I can dress myself and speak English.  Even though my pants were too tight I still think I passed with flying colors ;)

But, seriously, he did seem pretty enthusiastic about my resume and he thought the salary I'm looking for was reasonable.  Also, he said that he does work with lots of the 'big name' biotech and pharmas in the area.  All I can really do now is cross my fingers and wait.  If a job comes up that he thinks would be a fit for me then he'll call...

I had some time to kill before my afternoon meeting so I drove around Bellevue and found a nice little lunch spot, Pasta & Co (not to be confused with Noodle & Co).  The place was sort of a gourmet deli that specializes in all types of fancy pastas and pasta salads (no mayo!)Yummmmm, I wish that I'd had my camera with me because it was such a beautiful lunch.  I got some tabbouleh, some whole wheat pasta with vegetables, and some roasted beet salad with blue cheese.  It was a bit of a random assortment of things, but it was delicious.

After lunch I drove around a little more and came across the town of Medina (where Bill Gates lives) so I had some fun looking, or trying to look at the fancy houses.  Most of them had giant hedges or gates to prevent snooping.  Lame!  I also did a little more city touring in Seattle since I'm still trying to figure out what neighborhood I'd like to be in.

Finally, after wasting enough time, I went to go meet freaky Ken; this was the dude from yesterday who was rude to me one minute and then my bff the next minute.  Well, surprise, surprise even in-person he was still a spaz.  When I got there he was out to lunch so he ended up being 5 minutes late to our meeting when he scheduled the time!  Apparently the boring job the he thought I was 'perfect' for didn't even want me b/c I was ridiculously overqualified.  Duh, I could've told him that... oh wait, I did tell him that.  Oh, well.  I tried to explain to him what I was looking for and he many or many not have been listening.  He said he would look for positions for me, but I'm not holding my breath.  Even if neither of these staffing companies get any results, it was at least a nice, non-intimidating way to refresh my interviewing skills so I'd call it a productive day!

Tomorrow I'm going to look at what appears to be a super cool apartment, but I guess sometimes appearances can be deceiving.  I swear they must use some sort of photoshop or trickery to make these places look so good in the pictures.  Here is what the kitchen is supposed to look like, but I'll let you know how it goes.
