Damn! I just got burned by my cyborg date from last week. Obviously I've made no attempt to contact him; I just chalked it up as a loss, but he felt the need to send me this:
"It was nice to meet you last week. You seemed amused by me, but not impressed. And I kind of want to impress somebody right now, because a smart, cute, funny, gainfully employed guy should be impressive to somebody. So happy hunting and good luck with the job market."
Well, that shows me! He thinks he's hot stuff and he wanted me to know it :) Just as a side note, his gainful employment is "writing copy" for the primate research department of the University of Washington. I asked him what writing copy for them entailed and he said... he wrote the department newsletter and fliers. So basically he was a secretary. Ahhh, well I guess it's my loss.
On to happy news, I got the job at Dendreon!!! After almost two months of interviewing and waiting I finally got the offer this morning. Although I've been applying to all sorts of jobs (including entry level stuff) this Dendreon position is actually a kick ass, real-deal job. When I left Richmond and moved out here I was prepared for the possibility that I wouldn't find a job right away, but it is such a relief that it happened fairly quickly.
I think my start date will be April 25th so I've still got a little more time to goof off. Obviously, once I start I'll be better able to explain what kind of work it is and I'll be sure to keep you all updated.
Given all the excitement today I almost forgot that it was the 1st Thursday of the month when all the museums are free. Thankfully I remembered just in time to head over to the Experience Music Project. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but the outside of the building is a truly interesting and amazing (described as hideous by some) feat of architecture. The inside of the building... not so much. I'm really glad I didn't have to pay to get in because there just wasn't much there; a display of old guitars, a history of Jimi Hendrix (a Seattle native), and an area where kids can play instruments. At least it was a nice walk over :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Dendreon is very lucky! :)
