Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous

Well, last night I attended a fabulous performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Pacific Northwest Ballet and tomorrow I'll be heading out for a vacation abroad.  (Does Canada count as "abroad"?  It's a different country and I will be crossing over water to get there.  I'll say that it counts because it sounds fancy!)  So, naturally, what did I do today??  I jetted off (well... Cessna'd off) to the San Juan Islands for lunch.  Ahhhh, life is good!

When I woke up this morning I had a message from Barb inviting me along with them for a day trip since Barnaby has his pilots license.  There was no way I could turn that down!  I know I keep saying this every time I go anywhere or doing anything lately, but I really think I saw some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen in my entire life.  The water was sparkling in the sunlight and it was such an intense turquoise-blue color.  The clouds were puffy and perfect, as if they had just been painted onto the sky.  The islands were lush and green and dotted with adorable houses, docks, and boats.  Perfection!

Our first stop was Orcas Island which was absolutely adorable.  It was a beautiful, sunny, crisp day for walking around the village.  Then we stopped at charmingly rustic little restaurant overlooking the water for bacon cheeseburgers and onion rings.  Yum!  Next, we flew over to San Juan Island and walked over to the water where we could see the ferries coming in and enjoy some delicious espresso milkshakes.

On the flight back home we saw these amazing colored stripes on the ground below and they turned out to be tulip fields in bloom!  Unfortunately I didn't get a photo :(  Then Barnaby took us over Deception Pass, which you may remember from my trip to Anacortes a few months ago, but it was amazing to see it from a different angle: 3000 ft in the air!  I could gush on and on about how beautiful the day was, but I've got to get to bed early so I'm ready for my trip tomorrow.
Until next time, I'm sending you champagne wishes and caviar dreams!
