So every modern, city girl wants to have a gay bff, right? Well I'm no exception and I think my dreams may have finally come true. Last night my gbff and I met for sushi right by my house because he had scored an awesome coupon online. (Yay for restaurant coupons! It's like we're soul mates!) The coupon was for a 'chef's selection' dinner so I have absolutely no idea what I was eating. We tried to ask the chef what various things were, but we couldn't understand a word through his heavy accent. Is tempura salmon egg a legitimate food item or did we hear wrong??? Oh well, it's a good thing I'm not picky and it was all delicious.
He had the most perfectly coiffed and gelled hair, such that it sort of looked like plastic Ken-doll hair and he insists that he gets tons of compliments on it. He was wearing a Rico Suave-ish black on black embroidered button up shirt with an eagle on it (I think). Right now he's working as an engineer, but is dreams lie at the theater and one day he hopes to professionally pursue his thespian aspirations.
After dinner he took to me an awesome tucked away little lounge where I sipped on some lovely Petite Sirah while he tried out the Lindemans Framboise Lambic (which always reminds me of JNo's wedding), but then switched over to some hard cider.
We had such great conversation; everything from talking about how hard it can be to meet new friends to our family histories. We bonded over The Soup and a mutual love of Joel McHale. He even went to go see Joel when he was on tour in Seattle and got a picture with him. I pled my case for the merits of ANTM and Tyra Banks and he relented and agreed that she was pretty damn entertaining. The whole night was fabulous and full of high fives and OMGs!
There is only one, teensy tiny little hiccup along my road to gay bff-dom... I met this guy on the dating website and he thinks he's straight! Oh No!!! What's a girl supposed to do? I think he would be an awesome gbff, but probably not a very good boyfriend. Any suggestions?
Oh Amanda! I was thinking good for you, but hmmmmmm that situation sounds very tricky... best of luck to you there.
ReplyDeletesounds like you need advice from the lab girls.
